We’re Rom and Maria Gupta, the new innkeepers of this beloved lakeside bed-and-breakfast in Forestburgh, NY. Earlier this year, we stepped into this role with excitement, gratitude, and a deep respect for the Inn’s history. After raising five boys, we weren’t quite ready for a quiet retirement. We’ve always loved caring for people, hosting gatherings, creating warm and welcoming spaces, and offering the kind of hospitality that makes guests feel truly at home. When the opportunity to steward the Inn at Lake Joseph came our way, it felt like exactly where we were meant to be.

From our very first visit, we understood exactly why generations of travelers have felt such a strong connection to this Sullivan County retreat. The wooded grounds, the peaceful walk to Lake Joseph, the cozy indoor spaces, and the feeling of stepping into a slower, quieter world—all of it felt instantly familiar, like a place we already belonged.

As longtime admirers of historic inns and bed-and-breakfasts, we knew this was a property we wanted to care for gently, respectfully, and with deep appreciation for its past.
